Summer Holidays 2009

Well...as usual, I seem to have posted all my pictures in reverse chronological order...so picture us doing these activities in reverse:)
For our summer holidays this year we loaded up the trailer and headed to BC. We spent the first two nights, just the four of us, in Revelstoke at the KOA. We swam at the campground pool and at the Revelstoke Aquatic Centre (they have an amazing pool there!!) We also toured the Enchanted Forest just outside of Revelstoke. The girls loved that.
We stopped overnight in Kamloops and visited Great-Grandma Illsey (Scott's Grandma) who just turned 90 years old!
Then we headed off to Manning Park for my side of the family's annual campout. We stayed at the Lightning Lakes Campground and were fortunate enough to get a double site so we could park both of our trailers and both tents all in one area...it was awesome! We could walk down to the beach and swim in the lake and hike around the lake...it was so beautiful out there. My dad brought his canoe so everyone got a turn with that. We had a thunder/rain storm the second day but it didn't deter us overly much:)
After Manning we headed down to Abbotsford to spend the rest of the week at my parent's house. We went to Dinotown and the girls spent a lot of time in Grandma and Grandpa's pool on the deck...it was VERY hot and humid while we were there so the whole objective was to try and stay as cool as possible! We also said goodbye to James and Lesley while we were there...they'll be in Thailand teaching for the next two years!
For the second week we headed up to Vernon to spend some time at Scott's parents cabin on the lake. It was also extremely hot up there and there were forest fires close by so at night the smoke got pretty thick at times! Very nice to be able to sit down at the lake and cool down whenever we felt like it in the water. We took the girls to the waterslides in Vernon and we celebrated Uncle Mike's birthday! The community there had a kids race day on the Saturday so our girls took part in them, running races and potato sack races, egg/spoon relays, wheelbarrow races...a total blast to be sure! All in all a GREAT holiday.
